A friend in the UK originally sent me the collection of Sherlock stories the BBC released, after having it signed by Moffat and Gatiss for me. I took it to Gallifrey One with the intent of having Toby Haynes quickly autograph the back page, him being the director of Reichenbach and all. I asked if he was then going to be filming episode one of series three & he said “you never know,” and I teased, “yeah, but you already filmed the *how he did it* bits, didn’t you?”He just gave me a cheeky grin and picked up the marker to sign…

And damn it, he’s so disarming, I blurted out “I think I’ve figured it out, anyway.” (“I” being “the internet” because I’m far too stupid to put it together on my own, and “it” being a number of things that add up to make sense in my head.)

He closes the book back up, without signing it yet, ignored the line of people behind me and leans forward and says “Oh yeah? Tell me.” Ahhhhhh NOOOO. I backpedaled pretty hastily, citing “too afraid to be wrong/too afraid to be right” and other nonsense until he flipped it back open and signed it with what you see above, never mind that I would never have actually asked him to tell me. I swear, everyone on this show is such a troll.

I love them.

Later I had a kaffeklatsche with him and Richard Senior and it was brilliant.

Toby Haynes, you cheeky troll you…

They all became trolls but that’s inevitable working with the masters of trolling Mark and Steven.
